What Are We Doing? (AGAIN)

Sept 12th Tea Party @ Lake Havasu City

On Sept 12th, cities from around the country are participating in a big event resembling the classic tax revolt that jump-started the American Revolution. This isn’t a conservative or liberal thing. This is about government forking over billions of dollars, OUR MONEY, to businesses that should have failed. This is about taking money from responsible people and handing it over to CEOs who squandered their own.

We are NOT opposing any specific legislation or politician. We are instead addressing the broader philosophical implications of a government that has grown too large and too distant from the very citizens it taxes. Scary stuff.

Who Are We?

We’re a coalition of citizens and organizations concerned about the recent trend of fiscal recklessness in government. The New American Tea Party is specifically sponsored by the American Spectator, the Heartland Institute, Americans for Tax Reform, the National Taxpayers Union, Americans for Prosperity, FreedomWorks, the Institute for Liberty, the Coalition for a Conservative Majority and the Young Conservatives Coalition.

What We Did:

We, Mohave Tea Party, http://www.mocoteaparty912.com, I have to give them all the credit, organized a Tea Party held in Kingman, Arizona on 15Apr09, at Locomotive Park, in downtown Kingman from 2PM to 6PM.

The Tea Party was centered around the preservation of Constitutional Rights and runaway government spending. Around 500 adults and children attended throughout the day. Not bad for a cold windy afternoon. They brought signs centered around these issues. And, there were a couple "pitch forks".

I believe we provided a meaningful, informative, unifying event that has energized and will mobilize people.

I thank everyone who showed up and a special thanks to the scheduled speakers:

Dr. Lawrence Schiff, talked about health care,

Luca Zanna, spoke on immigration issues,

Mervin Fried, spoke on federal auditing legislation and the value of American currency,

and Troy McLoed, who talked about our second Amendment rights,

and everyone else who got up to speak.
